Roof works
A stable, durable roof requires good planning even before a house is built. But despite good planning and implementation, damage and signs of wear still occur over time. Storms, hail but also age-related material fatigue shorten the life of a roof despite good planning and implementation. This makes it all the more important for property owners, as part of their own self-interest and duty of care, to efficiently and carefully maintain a roof, repair damage and re-roof if necessary.
We support our customers in all matters relating to roofing, thermal insulation and improving energy performance and can offer a comprehensive service covering all trades from plumbers, carpenters to roofers:
- Roof renovation (roof truss, purlins & rafters, construction)
- Roof insulation
- Roofing (roofing, drainage, coating)
- Roof waterproofing (bitumen, plastic, EPDM)
- Roof works (cleaning, damage repair, lightning protection, antennas, snow guards, gutters)
Zinc, brick or high-tech?
Ultimately, the quality and durability of a roof is largely determined by the material used. Which material or color is ultimately chosen depends on the external appearance of the property, the surroundings, the weather conditions of the location, but also on costs and any requirements imposed by the preservation order and the municipality. There are many possibilities. Tiled roofs are popular, but also slate and zinc roofs. Alternatives to the traditional materials are roofing tiles made of aluminum, titanium zinc or roofing tiles made of pure concrete or a concrete-high-tech material mixture, which are frost-resistant and dimensionally stable as well as more resistant to dirt and weathering.
We are happy to assist our customers in selecting the most suitable material for them.
The following work steps are necessary for roofing - or partial renovation:
- Inspection of the object and planning
- Attachment or replacement of the substructure such as load-bearing lathing or wooden boarding
- Connection or repair of the roof drainage system
- Application of the roof tiles
- Depending on the material used, residual work is carried out, such as binding the chimney
Moisture protection for flat roofs
Not every house is covered with roof tiles. Flat roofs in particular usually have a skin made of bitumen, plastic or EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene rubber). Especially with these roofs there are high requirements: Depending on the weather conditions, there can be large temperature differences that place extreme stress on the material. Material fatigue causes the roof to leak and moisture to penetrate the building. For this reason, flat roofs in particular, where the roof waterproofing is the top layer, should be regularly maintained and checked for damaged areas.
What does your energy balance say?
Insufficient or non-existent roof insulation costs a lot of money, because the heat escaping from the roof increases heating costs enormously. In addition, efficient insulation is also required by law as soon as a renovation is carried out. Anyone who as a building owner is thinking about a roof renovation therefore cannot avoid the topic of roof insulation and the options associated with it. Thus, it is necessary to decide which insulation method:
- An above-rafter insulation (costly, but the roof truss remains visible)
- An insulation between rafters (easy and quick to install, therefore cheap and efficient)
- Or an under-rafter insulation (ideal supplement for more energy saving)
Depending on the structural conditions, is the right one for the particular roof. A wide variety of insulation materials are available, which are divided into renewable and artificial insulation materials, solid insulation boards, insulation wedges and loose fill materials.
The most common roof insulation materials are:
- Polystyrene, Neopor, Polyurethane, Vermiculite
- Rubber-based foamed elastomers
- Mineral wool: rock wool or glass wool
- Expanded clay, perlite
- Wood fiber, wood wool, hemp fiber, cellulose
- Ceralith
Each insulation variant, each available insulation material has advantages and disadvantages, which we as a specialist company are happy to discuss in detail with our customers in order to find the best possible solution for their roof.
Due to our experience in the field of building materials, we have a large partner network and can offer you these services in cooperation with one of our partners.
